Overview - Layla, a young Muslim woman, lives with her husband and their seven year old daughter. As newly arrived immigrants to the US from Egypt, they reside in New York City. Her husband, who is a conservative traditional man, dominates her. She soon begins to question this interference with her liberty, as she sees that women outside of her community have the autonomy and agency to make their own decisions on how to dress and express themselves in public.
