A Great Depression era film with a setting in London, but filmed in the US. While Warner Brothers films generally viewed the excesses of the greedy and corrupt rich as the cause of the Depression, MGM generally attributed the cause to be a lack of confidence with the cure being more entrepreneurship, belt tightening and innovation. A good Depression-era story set in London, concerning two men, one who was sacked from his job due to his lack of advancement in 40 years, and the other, the owner of the firm, who's desperate and ready to sell out. To some, the story may seem simplistic and/or contrived, but I thought it was an enjoyable, simple tale. It's nice every now and then to sit down and watch something with a happy end...
