Beacon 22 is an original idea, I'll give it that. A light house in outer space, where nothing is what it seems. Mixing mystery/thriller and sci fi action adventure. Perhaps its biggest shortcoming, is it seems incoherent. Things happen but they don't tie together terribly well.
